For the spice rub
  • 2 tbsp Smoked Paprika 14g
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar 100g
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder 9g
  • 1 tbsp Onion Powder 9g
  • 1 tbsp Kosher Salt 18g
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper 2g
For cooking
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar 60ml
  • 1.5 cups BBQ Sauce, high sugar content preferred 350ml
  • 1 tbsp Neutral Oil 15ml, for sheen
  • 3 tbsp Green Onions, fresh and sliced 15g

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by mixing the paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. This will be your flavor bomb!
Slow Cooking
  1. Rub your spare ribs with the spice mix, ensuring every nook and cranny gets the love.
  2. Pour apple cider vinegar into the bottom of your Crockpot, then place the ribs in, stacking them if necessary.
  3. Drizzle with BBQ sauce and cover. Cook on low for 8 hours, or high for 4-5 hours.
Finishing
  1. Once done, brush the ribs with neutral oil for a shiny glaze. Sprinkle with sliced green onions for a fresh pop.

Notes

For the best results, ensure you remove the rib membrane before cooking. Always use a BBQ sauce with a high sugar content for optimal caramelization and glaze.
