Ingredients

For the ribs
  • 3.5 lbs country style pork ribs (bone-in or boneless) Choose bone-in or boneless based on preference.
For the dry rub
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed) Use packed brown sugar for best results.
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika Can substitute with regular paprika if needed.
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper Optional for a bit of heat.
For finishing
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand) Choose a brand that you enjoy for the best flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Pat the country style ribs dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Generously season the ribs on all sides with the dry rub mixture, pressing it into the meat to help it adhere.
  5. Arrange the seasoned ribs in a single layer in a large baking dish. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
Cooking
  1. Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2 hours.
  2. Carefully remove the foil from the baking dish. Drain any excess liquid.
  3. Brush the ribs generously with BBQ sauce.
  4. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Return the ribs to the oven, uncovered, and bake for 20-30 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly.
  5. Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with a side of crispy coleslaw and cornbread. Garnish with fresh parsley for added color.
