Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces pork chops (bone-in, about 1 inch thick) Tender and juicy when cooked right.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For searing and to help spices cling.
Spice Mixture
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Adds rich depth to the pork's natural flavors.
  • 1 tsp onion powder Introduces a sweet, savory touch.
  • 1 tsp paprika Provides subtle smokiness.
  • 1 tsp salt Essential for enhancing flavors.
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper Provides a slight kick.
Fresh Herbs
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme), chopped Adds aromatic freshness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels to ensure a golden sear.
  2. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Generously sprinkle this blend all over the pork chops.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, drizzle olive oil and heat over medium-high until the oil shimmers.
  2. Carefully place the pork chops in the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and the internal temperature hits 145°F.
  3. In the last minute of cooking, add fresh herbs to the skillet.
Resting
  1. Remove the chops from the skillet and let them rest for at least 5 minutes.

Notes

For optimal crust, let the pork chops sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. You can use boneless pork chops; just adjust cooking time accordingly. For a twist, add cayenne for a spicy kick or substitute pork chops for chicken thighs or grilled portobello mushrooms for a lighter alternative.
